Today we launched Eko Brunei to the public!
We were joined by 20 volunteers from 5 different villages: Kampong Lamunin, Kampong Bukit Sulang, Kampong Menengah, Kampong Layong, Kampong Panchong and Kampong Biong.
The volunteers gathered at Balai Raya, Gong Tiga in Kampong Lamunin with the aim of encouraging the youth to get involved with Eko Brunei and to help develop and maintain the promising online platform.
The organizers, Eco Ponies Garden, AZ Back To Nature, MDG Services, Ketua Kampong Lamunin, MPK & MPM Lamunin and Earth Hour Brunei were also in attendance.
Andreas Kotzke, a travelling eco-tourist enthusiast and a representative from Earth Hour Brunei presented on the need for more awareness and action around the increasing threat of climate change.
The Eko Brunei initiative has the main aim of promoting eco-tourism in Brunei. It is a platform to showcase Brunei's pristine natural environment, rich cultural traditions and community projects to the local and international market, while also drawing village communities together to reap the economic, social and cultural benefits that eco-tourism can provide.
The initiative is expected to draw more attention towards the potential of a more robust eco-tourism sector in Brunei.
