MALAYSIAN cooking video site — iCook Asia — has added Brunei to its cuisine selection.
The launching held during the Eko Kampung Cuisine 2016 yesterday was attended by Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Primary Resources & Tourism Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali, who was the guest of honour.
Also in attendance during the event at Eco Ponies Garden in Bang Nukat was the CEO cum Founder of the web portal, Ezmir Razali.
Created for culinary aficionados, the page is a window of opportunity for outsiders to explore quick and simple palatable recipes that stem from the sultanate, Ezmir said in an interview.
At the same time, there was also a cooking contest, held as part of the two-day initiative. Datin Hjh Shirin won top place in both Main Course and Drinks and Dessert categories, who awarded with a one-night stay inclusive of breakfast at the Rizqun International Hotel, and lunch for two at the ground floor coffee house.
Meanwhile, Filah Amin topped in the Appetizers category, winning herself a lunch voucher for two at Rizqun.
Present to hand over the prizes was the Head of Foodservice & Management Department in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Associate Professor Dr Shahrim Karim, who was one of the judges.
He commented that an understanding of the regulation — to use flowers and fruits as ingredients — was the main criteria, alongside with uniqueness and originality that could much reflect on heritage.
Among the food jurists was the Managing Partner of Energy Kitchen Hana Aziz, who shared Energy Kitchen will incorporate the two as essentials in their meals in the future because of the plentiful nutritional benefits.
A 1.5km cycling expedition will be held at 7am today as part of the Eko Kampung Cuisine 2016.
Members of the public are encouraged to bring their mountain bikes because the wildlife excursion will start from Bang Nukat and go through various hilly and under developed areas.
Furthermore, iCook Asia will carry out a video shoot within the location for two cooking demonstrations that will be led by Dr Shahrim and Chef Rizal from Rizqun.
